To help raise awareness of blindness and vision impairment, we released our latest documentary Second Sight. Directed by Cole Sax and screened at international film festivals, Second Sight is a story about love, identity, and a family’s battle to regain sight. This documentary takes you through a second chance for Joanaly Laniohan and her family and reveals the impacts of avoidable blindness and how essential eyecare can transform the lives of individuals, families, and communities. It’s estimated that 1.3 billion people worldwide live with some form of visual impairment, but 80% of these cases can be prevented or cured. Last year, SEE performed over 50,000 sight-restoring surgeries around the world and looks forward to another impactful year in 2020.
