While the fall season brings thoughts of changing leaves, pumpkin spice and sweaters for many, at Global Impact we only have one thing on the mind: workplace giving! Since our founding in 1956, Global Impact has supported an alliance of international charities to manage and market themselves in the workplace sector. We’re currently in the heart of campaign season, which means we’ve been busy planning, strategizing and promoting to ensure another successful year for our members. And, as we find ourselves elbow deep in charity success stories and videos, we are reminded of what makes our jobs special – getting to work with incredible organizations and support their missions to create a better world.

Our alliance consists of over 80 diverse, international charity members who work all over the world and have unique missions. From large organizations with vast scopes of work like UNICEF USA and Oxfam America, to nonprofits focused on a specific region or program like Hope for Haiti or Tostan Inc., Global Impact partners with all types of organizations, helping them raise vital funds in support of their work through the workplace sector.

Read on to learn more about the varied makeup of our Charity Alliance and how Global Impact celebrates each of them through our workplace giving strategies, helping them standout and maximize their employee giving revenue.

Helping people around the globe in all kinds of ways:
From education and economic development to human trafficking and hunger, Global Impact’s alliance members each work in at least one cause area. More often, they work in multiple areas. Global Impact utilizes these cause areas to base much of our marketing strategy. We have found cause marketing to be an effective tool for promoting our charity partners. It helps employee donors navigate the numerous organizations participating in their employee giving campaign and is especially appealing for younger donors who tend to be less “brand-loyal” to nonprofits than previous generations.

Our cause areas have evolved over the years to be as inclusive and representative of our charity partners as possible. For example, in the last few years we added Social Justice to better represent members like Outright International, who addresses human rights violations and abuses against LGBTIQ people in countries across the world, or Human Rights Watch who spotlights abuses and defends the rights of people in 100 countries worldwide. We also recently renamed the Environment cause to Climate Resiliency in order to fully encompass and promote the work from our partner organizations like Mercy Corps who is working toward a future of sustainability and conservation by addressing the underlying challenges of climate change, water security, natural resource management and access to energy.

On the front lines when disaster strikes:
Our charity partners are some of the top emergency responders in the world. Their resources, expertise, partnerships and staff locations make them a natural fit to be on the front lines during times of disaster. Whether they are providing medical resources like Direct Relief does, deploying teams of volunteers to rebuild homes across the U.S. like International Relief Teams, or providing emergency food like World Food Program USA, when disaster strikes our partners are there — and we love being able to support their important and incredible work.

When it comes to disasters it is often said “it’s not a matter of ‘if’, but a matter of ‘when’”. In the wake of a disaster, Global Impact launches emergency funds raising dollars in support of the charity response efforts. We create emergency toolkits with facts, photos and videos from our charity partners, giving campaign partners everything they need to fundraise around the disaster, and promote our responding charity partners in blogs, newsletters and across our social media channels.

Organizations of all shapes and sizes:
Our partner charities range across all sizes including niche organizations like Seed Programs International enabling access to quality vegetable seed, training, and resources to reduce hunger and poverty or World Bicycle Relief delivering specially designed bicycles for people around the world to aid in poverty relief, to large organizations with robust and diverse programming such as Save the Children or World Vision who work across multiple areas like education, health, clean water and more to help children around the world succeed. We have helped all types of organizations find success in raising funds through the workplace. Whether you have a team of one or 20 supporting your workplace efforts we can help build an employee giving strategy that is right for your organization.

Building relationships through faith connections:
Faith-based organizations play a big role in successful international development and this is reflected in Global Impact’s alliance members. We have over 20 faith-based organizations representing a variety of religions such as American Jewish World Service, Catholic Medical Mission Board (CMMB), Islamic Relief USA and World Relief. Just like faith can help your organization build trust with the communities you work with, it can also create a connection with potential donors, and workplace giving is a great channel to discover a new audience. The CFC includes ‘faith based’ as one of its featured cause weeks during the campaigns and as companies have begun to invest more in their employee engagement efforts, we have seen ERGs taking a more active role in employee engagement. We can help your organization build a strategy and connections to reach relevant Employee Resources Groups.

As the “international” federation, Global Impact has had the opportunity to work with such a diverse and impactful group of organizations. Our Charity Alliance is at the heart of Global Impact and for over 60 years we have leveraged our experience in workplace fundraising to help our members amplify their impactful work and raise vital funds in support of their missions. As the workplace giving landscape evolves and changes, we continue to adapt our services, approach and strategy to best serve this dynamic mix of charities and their needs as international organizations in the workplace giving space — and we are excited to continue to partner and serve them for many years to come!
