In Los Angeles County, hugely devastating wildfires have burned at least 62 square miles of land, homes, and community buildings. Even as the fires are contained and urgent relief is sent, there is still an extensive recovery process ahead. Many Global Impact Charity Alliance members are on the ground and/or working with local partners to help the nearly 180,000 displaced people in Southern California.
Our charity partners are providing both immediate and long-term needs of those affected by the fires. You can support their work by donating to any of the following organizations:
- Americares is mobilizing to address urgent health needs, including masks and respiratory medicines, to protect survivors and support health services.
- Direct Relief is deploying medical aid, including emergency medical supplies for first responders and displaced residents, and respiratory protection equipment to mitigate health risks from smoke exposure.
- International Medical Corps is headquartered in Los Angeles and is coordinating closely with local organizations to provide hygiene kits, first-aid kits, and KN95 masks as well as medical and mental health services.
- International Relief Teams is partnering with local organizations to deliver critical aid to displaced families by sending truckloads of emergency supplies, including water, food, and hygiene kits.
- Islamic Relief USA is coordinating with local partners and communities to identify and deliver essential water and food supplies to local shelters and the firefighters that are working tirelessly on the front lines.
- Project HOPE is distributing hygiene kits and procuring high-need items for local shelters and health clinics to meet the outstanding health and humanitarian needs.
- Rise Against Hunger is working alongside local partners to distribute hygiene kits, bottled water, and over-the-counter medications.
- Save the Children is offering long-term recovery efforts like mental health support and child care restoration, in addition to the most urgent critical supplies like blankets and portable chargers.
- World Vision is sending relief supplies shipments with essentials like masks, water, food, air mattresses, bedding, clothing, coolers, diapers, and more.
