Global Impact’s Charity Alliance partners are responding to the earthquake in Haiti.
A deadly 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit western Haiti on Saturday, Aug. 14, followed by a tropical storm on Monday, Aug. 16. More than 2,000 people have died and thousands more are injured. UNICEF estimates that in total over 1.2 million people were affected and need support.
The situation is critical, and there has been significant damage to infrastructure. Nearly 130,000 homes were destroyed, roads are in ruins and hospitals suffered damage while taking in record numbers of patients. Concerns of access to clean water and safe food supplies remain.
