September 29 marks an exciting milestone for Andrea Jensen, our Manager of Client Services; it’s her 21st anniversary at Global Impact! Though Andrea proclaims that she enjoys working behind-the-scenes, today we want to shine a well-deserved spotlight on her career and accomplishments. See what Priti Derrick, Director of Charity Services and Andrea’s supervisor, has to say:
“I am so fortunate to have Andrea as part of the Client Services team. Each day she comes to work ready to help, to solve problems, and to ensure our charity members are in good standing with the state regulatory office. Her experience and insights are invaluable, and her positive attitude continues to inspire everyone around her. Congratulations on reaching this remarkable milestone and thanks for the tremendous impact you have had on our team and the organization as a whole. Here’s to many more years!”
Read on for our interview with Andrea about her experience at Global Impact and the reasons she has kept her long tenure with us.
Q: To start off, can you tell us about your job and responsibilities?
A: I’m currently the Manager of Client Services and specifically administer our state registration program. Through this program we offer services to help charities ensure compliance with state and local solicitation laws, including those governing employee giving campaigns. Ultimately this increases the charity’s potential for revenue. My role is to make sure that our clients get the best value and work that they can from us.
Q: When have you felt proud about your work?
A: Some of the clients that we have now are people who worked with us on state registration at another organization, then they moved on to their current nonprofit, and hired us for state registration since they were so happy with our service. That feels really good because I know I’ve done a good job, and they are willing to put another organization’s registrations in our hands.
Q: What has motivated you to stay with Global Impact for so long?
A: I’ve asked myself that before! People always seem surprised when they find out how long I’ve been at Global Impact. What it boils down to is the people. Priti, my supervisor, is the greatest cheerleader ever and helps me see the positive side of things. All the people on my team have made it a good place to work. Really, everyone at Global Impact amazes me.
Q: Have you seen any changes either in state registration or at our organization throughout the years that you think are interesting?
A: I’ve seen a lot of changes. Registration applications used to be all on paper back then and everything was mailed. Now almost everything is electronic. There have also been points in time where organizations have tried to make an easy, universal version of registration for all the states where you submit just one form, but they haven’t worked. I think charities will always need help with state registration. At Global Impact specifically, when I started, workplace giving was our main focus, but then we diversified our offerings and now we’ve grown into a whole family of organizations under Global Impact Ventures!
Q: Do you have any advice for new employees now joining Global Impact?
A: I would say enjoy the work and enjoy the people because there’s so much that you can learn about the nonprofit world and from all of the collective knowledge of our staff.
