Stan Harrell is the Chair of Global Impact’s Audit Committee and in his last position he served in the U.S. Chamber of Commerce as Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Information Officer. In that role, Harrell built and led a team of positive and motivated professionals. They worked in partnership with over 30 internal operating groups to increase member value and deliver financial growth, by focusing on results, innovation and efficiency. A life-long learner, he develops best practices and new ideas by asking questions and listening first. He believes that solutions should be flexible, measurable and durable.
During Harrell’s tenure, Chamber revenues have increased from $60 million to $250 million. As CFO, he actively managed net asset and program growth, increasing credit capacity from $10 million to $80 million. He engages with 24 external boards and three independent audit committees, as well as proactively managing internal and external communications on financial matters, including the publicly available annual tax returns. In an ever-changing corporate environment, he has tailored communications to evolving needs, transforming board reporting and engagement.
As CIO, Harrell, through broad based organization wide staff engagement and the strategic utilization of best in class experts, he has continuously modernized the network, security and application infrastructure and processes. Through numerous break through solutions, he ensures that technology is utilized to accomplish staff and members’ objectives within a safe, practical and accessible environment.
Prior to joining the Chamber in 1998, he was Vice President of Finance and Information Technology at the American Trucking Associations in Alexandria, Virginia, for ten years. He began his professional career as an auditor in big eight public accounting in Houston, Texas after receiving his undergraduate degree in accounting.
He received his Master of Business Administration from Georgetown University, maintains his CPA license, and graduated with honors from the University of Southern Mississippi. Stan and his wife live in Alexandria, Virginia, and have two adult children. His personal passions are his family and his career. In addition, he is an avid cyclist, and is a member of the Board and Executive Committee of the international charity, Global Impact.
