PLAN INTERNATIONAL USA: International Day of the Girl

Girls all around the world are facing closed doors. And they’ve been stuck behind them for too long.
That’s why Plan International USA works with partners like you to help girls push through barriers to unlock their full power and potential.
International Day of the Girl is October 11. Our global movement is committed to empowering girls to push through doors and unlock their potential. We believe a #GirlUnlocked is a key to our future, and with the support of our partners we can fight for a better world and possibilities for girls everywhere.
Wondering how to get involved this year?
Check out our website where you’ll find our advocacy hub filled with:
• Events- Plan’s young activists are hosting and leading a free summit and training focused on girls’ safety and online harassment
• Ways you can take action, including petitioning our government officials, gaining hands-on allyship skills and more!
Use your social media. The world is moving more and more online, which means girls are experiencing increased levels of harassment, misinformation and violence. Join the discussion and to engage your employees and let the world know that you support girls and advocate for gender equality:
• Use our campaign hashtags on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn:
o #GirlUnlocked for all social media posts related to our International Day of the Girl initiative
o #FreetoBeOnline for all social media posts related to our events, petitions, and advocacy

• Tag us!
o Instagram: @Plan_USA
o Facebook: @PlanUSA
o Twitter: @PlanUSA

We’ve created a social media toolkit with images, messaging and suggested posts that you can easily share with your networks. If you’d like a toolkit please let me know and I’ll send it your way.
Impact girls’ lives with a corporate or individual gift. You can celebrate International Day of the Girl with a gift that changes lives. When you make a donation, you’re giving to girls and you’re investing in a more equal world.

“When girls and young women like me are listened to, included and encouraged, the future not only seems brighter, it truly is.” – Grace, 22 (Member of Plan International USA’s Youth Advisory Board)
