Recently we shared suggestions for stimulating employees by capitalizing on observance days, like International Women’s Day or Earth Day, especially those with topics that are important to your employees or correspond to your corporate social responsibility goals. Some days may appeal to your culture more so than others, but there is one day we can all get behind: Giving Tuesday.

In the midst of a time where we can be swept up in multicourse meal plans and the frenzy of retail sales, this global day of generosity has become a growing movement that unites us all with the common purpose of doing good. If you’re looking for a way to keep your employees happy and have a positive impact, Giving Tuesday is the perfect opportunity!

This year, Giving Tuesday falls on Dec. 3, so you may be thinking, “How can I plan something meaningful in less than two weeks?” That’s where we come in. Global Impact can help your company GIVE through the workplace to celebrate Giving Tuesday.

Gather goods: Host a donation drive, kit build or food pack. Clothing, blankets, toiletries and food are always in need, especially this time of year. Many of Global Impact’s Charity Alliance members will send everything you need to assemble things like hygiene kits for families who lost everything in the wake of a disaster.

Invite donations: Ask employees to support the causes they care about, like education or clean water, by giving through your workplace campaign. Share our inspiring charity materials, including photos, stories and videos, like this one about the importance of giving global.

Volunteer time: Arrange a volunteer experience for the group – you’ll give employees a chance to bond while also having a positive impact. Everyone loves an opportunity to get out of the office and shift from their normal routine. And even if an offsite activity isn’t possible for your group, there are many remote volunteer options and onsite activities that we can set up.

Educate employees: Plan an informational event to educate the team about various nonprofits and their mission, ultimately inspiring your employees to support a cause that sparks their interest. This could include a charity fair or guest speaker, film screening or experiential learning.

Whether it’s preparing for an event, inspiring global giving or organizing a group volunteer activity, Global Impact can work with you to maximize employee engagement on Giving Tuesday. Let’s start planning today!
