Tropical Storm Imelda hit parts of Texas and Louisiana on Sept. 19, deluging some areas with more than 40 inches of rain in a 72-hour period and flooding many areas through the weekend. At least 800 homes and businesses have sustained damage from the floodwaters and 400 people were in need of rescue. The storm is responsible for at least five deaths.
