A deadly 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck Morocco on Friday, September 8, the strongest to hit the country in over a century. Nearly 3,000 people have died and over 5,600 were injured, with thousands more unaccounted for and tens of thousands displaced from their homes. The shake has devastated the economic hub of Marrakech and many mountain villages that have been difficult for rescuers to reach.
Survivors are receiving intensive medical care, and families will need food, water, shelter and help reuniting with lost loved ones. As winter approaches, communities will need to rebuild homes and roads.
Our leading humanitarian partners, such as CARE, International Medical Corps and Project HOPE, are on the ground providing these critical services and more to survivors.
Give now to the Morocco Earthquake Fund. Your gift will go towards families’ immediate needs as well as long-term plans to rebuild communities in Morocco.
