- The END Fund is the first collaborative philanthropic fund dedicated to ending neglected tropical diseases (NTDs). By partnering with philanthropists, governments, pharmaceutical companies, and local organizations, the END Fund drives coordinated, sustainable efforts to eliminate six major NTDs, distributing approximately 2 billion treatments since its founding.
- The End Fund sought Global Impact’s expertise to hone its major donor engagement strategy, including refining its Flagship Fund Case for Support and unlocking prospective donors.
Making the case for supporting neglected tropical disease elimination

Approach
- Message tested the original case for support with 16 potential funders, including institutional funders, pooled funds, and family foundations. Compiled and analyzed feedback, leading to the recommendation of three customized versions of the document tailored to foundation, corporate, and high-net-worth individual audiences.
- Ideated, wrote, and designed a new four-page case for support tailored to each audience and solicited feedback from industry leaders, philanthropists, and corporate social impact executives. Incorporated feedback and iterated three versions of the document, working closely on the narrative flow and customizing the language of each version to the nuances of the audience. Designed each document with high-quality photos, graphics, and charts, creating a visual flow between the three while being distinct enough to easily tell apart internally.
- Incorporated edits from selected original stakeholders and delivered the final cases for support with user-friendly design files for the client to easily customize in the future.
- Conducted in-depth research on prospective funders, analyzing their philanthropic focus, giving history, and contacts, as well as a relationship mapping exercise to identify strategic engagement opportunities.
Results
- Presented our case for support at Skoll World Forum, gathering helpful feedback to incorporate and priming potential funders to support the END Fund.
- Created three cases for support spelling out the need, opportunity, philanthropic model, and impact in action for foundations, corporations, and high-net-worth donors, reviewed by industry stakeholders and ready to enhance future conversations with prospective donors.
- Identified 30+ prospective foundations for future engagement and cultivation of mid-sized gifts.
