In 2018, Halimo had to unfortunately drop out of school in class eight due to financial constraints faced by her family after her father passed away. in 2009 she joined IRC Girl Shine program. Through this program she was empowered and she began mentoring young girls. She also went back to school and sucessfully completed her primary school education and has become a beacon of hope amongst the girls in her community,the Somali Bantu community, a minority community which has been ostracized . Halimo is passionate about mentorship and education for girls in the community.
