Raised in a large family in Siaya County, financial hardship cut short Godfrey Oduor’s education. Despite these challenges, Godfrey stayed motivated, and eventually discovered SHOFCO’s apprenticeship program through a family friend. Now based in Nakuru County, he is thriving in his automotive mechanics apprenticeship through SHOFCO’s Sustainable Livelihoods program. Though the work is challenging, Godfrey is determined to acquire skills that allow him to build something not just for himself, but also to uplift others. He emphasizes the value of practical skills and staying motivated, and encourages other young people to seize opportunities when they come your way. Godfrey aims to become an expert in his field, start his own garage, and mentor others in the future.
