Tostan’s three-year Community Empowerment Program (CEP) has supported more than 3,000 communities in eight African countries in developing and implementing their visions of well-being. Communities create a collective vision for their future, take action to achieve it, and then share what they’ve learned with others. The coronavirus pandemic and its effects have highlighted the vital importance of empowered communities and local leadership.
Medina Yoro Foulah is one of Tostan’s partner communities in Senegal. They are pursuing a new vision for well-being and learning new skills to do so. Women find new roles in their communities and youth engage in community-led solutions.
