Hurricane Michael

On Wednesday, Oct. 10, Hurricane Michael made landfall at Mexico Beach near the Florida Panhandle.  With winds reaching 155 mph, the category four storm is one of the most powerful hurricanes to hit the United States in the past 50 years.

As of Monday, Oct. 15, 250,000 are without power and there have been at least 18 deaths reported. Flooding has destroyed nearly 1,000 homes in Port St. Joe, while Mexico Beach has been left uninhabitable. It’s estimated that the storm has caused about $8 billion in damages.
