Global Impact Partners With CrowdRise to Promote the 2016 Giving Tower for #GivingTuesday

Fundraising competition provides the tools for charities to better leverage holiday giving to support their work

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 14, 2016 – Global Impact has partnered with CrowdRise to support this year’s Giving Tower. Started in 2012, the Giving Tower on #GivingTuesday kicks off an annual holiday fundraising competition for thousands of charities to compete for up to $250,000 in grant money prizes. The event taps into the immense energy surrounding #GivingTuesday, a budding tradition which raised $117 million through more than 1 million individual gifts in 2015.

The Giving Tower is a modern way to demonstrate the combined philanthropic impact of #GivingTuesday and is a way for organizations participating in the CrowdRise Holiday Charity Challenge to kick off their fundraising efforts when the challenge launches November 22. Global Impact is supporting the Giving Tower in 2016 because of its unique functionality designed to make #GivingTuesday a monumental day for charities. This impact was demonstrated in 2016 when the event rallied more than 1,500 participating charities and turned a $250,000 donation into $6.4 million raised for charity.

Charities hoping to participate in the 2016 Giving Tower can sign up for free through CrowdRise. The platform provides advanced functionality including optimized campaign updates, social sharing, custom donate buttons and more. Participants have the opportunity to raise funds with the support of Global Impact and the CrowdRise platform, more effectively mobilize their donors on #GivingTuesday and win big prizes to further their work, including a $25,000 prize on #GivingTuesday and a $100,000 first place prize offered at the conclusion of the event. The Giving Tower kicks off the CrowdRise Holiday Charity Challenge on November 22, and runs through January 7, 2017.

Corporations are also key to the success of the Giving Tower and Holiday Challenge. Company donations sponsor the competition and go toward funding the work of the charity that rallies the hardest and raises the most in the campaign. Companies receive recognition on the campaign platform, in CrowdRise press and marketing efforts, across social media channels, and more.
