Cyclone Idai

CARE Cyclone Idai
Cyclone Idai hit Mozambique on Thursday, March 14, before moving on to Zimbabwe and Malawi, leaving disaster in its wake. Heavy precipitation and high winds caused rivers to overflow and led to flash floods and landslides. More than 750 are reported dead with thousands missing and search efforts still ongoing.

An estimated 1.7 million people have been impacted by the disaster. Many survivors have lost everything, and are at increasing risk of contracting water-borne diseases like cholera. Our charity partners are working to provide relief, including supplies such as water purification tablets, hygiene and agricultural support, and more.
