As we are heading toward the end of a long and difficult year, let’s take a minute to celebrate all the good in the world with Giving Tuesday. A day of global generosity falling on Dec. 1 this year, this holiday is all about “unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform communities around the world.”

Over $1.9 billion was raised for charitable causes in 2019 on Giving Tuesday, and we can make 2020 just as record-breaking. The needs are undeniably high in the midst of the pandemic and we urge you to support the fight to end COVID-19 by giving globally this Giving Tuesday.  The generosity of donors like you has the power to collectively address the steep challenges faced around the world and create positive change.

Add a reminder to your calendar to give this Dec. 1, make your plans for Giving Tuesday and don’t forget to bring your friends and family along on your giving journey!

Unsure what cause or charity to give to, or wondering how else you can get involved? Here’s a list of some of the extraordinary campaigns and fundraisers our Charity Alliance partners are hosting in celebration of this year’s Giving Tuesday!

Accion
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have seen the world’s most vulnerable groups – low-income families, women and small businesses – face unprecedented challenges. Accion is helping these groups adapt during this crisis, keeping small businesses open and making families’ tight budgets work for them.

On Giving Tuesday, your gift to help feed families, build small businesses and create economic opportunities for underserved populations will be tripled.

Americares
For Americares, Giving Tuesday is a time of hope and generosity, and this year’s campaign again offers an 8x match to maximize donors gifts. Americares has also created a Wall of Hope where supporters can add uplifting messages to be shared among the charity’s community. We encourage everyone to add their own message of hope.

Amref Health Africa
This year’s Giving Tuesday campaign will help establish a Girls’ Mentorship Home Visit Program in Kenya. Through this program, 45 girls will be given Dignity Kits – backpacks filled with essentials like toothbrushes, soap and sanitary napkins – so they can always feel their best. This program will also provide solar lights and radios so girls can listen to academic lessons airing across Kenya, providing them access to an education despite school closures due to COVID-19.

#GivingSeedsDay Growing Better Futures

ECHO
Giving Tuesday is turning into Giving Seeds-Day with ECHO this year. Gifts will provide seeds so that families will be able to add new fruits and vegetables into their diets, improving their nutrition. These life-changing seeds help plant new hope in the communities where ECHO works. Donations will be matched up to $30,000, so don’t hesitate – double the seeds can help end hunger!

Fistula Foundation
This year, Fistula Foundation is sending all of your Giving Tuesday gifts to support fistula care in Uganda. Women who suffer from painful labors can develop obstetric fistulas that leave them incontinent and require expensive surgery to fix. Your support provides these women with the care they need to lead happy, fulfilling and safe lives.

Grameen Foundation
Your gift on Giving Tuesday supports the Grameen Model. This “technology plus people” approach helps the charity in its mission to empower the poor to end poverty. This method supports women across the world, and your gift on Dec. 1 will be matched dollar-to-dollar up to $100,000.

Heifer International
Giving Tuesday is a day of doing good – and Heifer International has made it easy. Today on Giving Tuesday, give new hope to a family in need and your donation will be matched for triple the impact!

Hope for Haiti
Support efforts to address the COVID-19 pandemic in Haiti this Giving Tuesday with Hope for Haiti. Join Hope for Haiti and put resources to use for children, teachers, parents and grandparents across Haiti.

Islamic Relief USA
Winter is a critical time for vulnerable populations suffering from poverty, displacement, food insecurity and lack of clean water. Freezing temperatures add another threat for those fighting to survive, and Islamic Relief USA is working all winter long to aid communities braving the cold.

Sharing your warmth on Giving Tuesday will help those in need get through the winter. Your donation provides vital items like food, medical aid, water, blankets, shoes, winter gear and more!

JA Worldwide
Junior Achievement (JA) Worldwide focuses on equipping young people with the employment and entrepreneurship skillsets and mindsets they need to succeed. Globally, we are facing a wave of economic disruption due to COVID-19 that will require youth everywhere to be even better prepared for the uncertainty they will face when entering the job market. Your support of JA Worldwide on Giving Tuesday will enable more than 12 million students from over 100 countries each year to develop soft skills and self-efficacy so that we can build a generation of well-equipped and resilient youth.

MOAS
Seattle-based artist and (Migrant Offshore Aid Station (MOAS) ambassador Kelly White, owner and artist at Kelly Be, is selling 12 pieces of art, each designed to raise awareness about reducing the need for people to take dangerous journeys in search of safety.

Resin artwork "Student Visa"

The artist named the collection Kaleidoscope of Solidarity, with the intent of advocating, educating and raising money to support MOAS. The prominent metaphor of Kaleidoscope of Solidarity is butterflies, which are used to represent the people affected by the migration phenomenon and their strengths: hope, courage, transformation, endurance and resilience.

Resin artwork "Private Sponsorship"

The collection shows the life-shattering reality of millions of migrants, refugees and asylum seekers in the world, many of which have fled their countries due to persecution or war, risking their lives in perilous crossings by land and sea. Each piece will be available for sale starting Dec. 1, and proceeds will go to support MOAS as they help displaced people around the world.

Plan International
When you give to Plan International USA, you give to girls. You help vulnerable children stay safe and healthy, while protecting their futures. During COVID-19, your gift will help girls around the world who are more at risk than ever because of COVID-19. That’s why the first $18,000 in donations received for Giving Tuesday will be doubled.

UMR
For many families, the winter brings nothing but a new set of fears: How will I afford to heat my home? How can I protect my children from the cold? Will I have access to food? UMR believes that no mother should have to watch her child go to bed cold every night because she cannot afford a heater, a blanket or a winter coat. The charity believes that everybody should have access to proper shelter to protect themselves from the cold.

Therefore, this Giving Tuesday, UMR will be providing families in the U.S., Jordan, Yemen, Lebanon, Palestine, Bangladesh and Egypt with winter kits that include: food packs, blankets, winter jackets, fuel vouchers and fuel-powered heaters.
