A deadly 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Turkey, close to the Syrian border, on Monday, Feb. 6, followed by a series of aftershocks. An additional 6.4 magnitude earthquake hit the same region on Monday, Feb. 20. Over 50,000 people have died, tens of thousands are injured and more than 9 million people have been displaced or affected. The destruction and suffering are amplified by harsh winter conditions, damaged infrastructure and the political conflict in Syria.
Thankfully, our leading humanitarian partners were already working in the region and thus able to respond immediately. They’ve helped provide families with shelter, medical aid, food, water and more. In the coming days and weeks, their work will shift to the long-term needs created by this crisis.
We ask that you support the work of these charities by giving to the Turkey-Syria Earthquake Relief Fund. Your generosity can provide the hope someone needs to make it through this difficult time.
