After a 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti’s southwestern region in August 2021, Habitat for Humanity responded quickly to provide shelter assistance and humanitarian support. Post-earthquake assessments found that of the more than 300 Habitat homes built in the region in the wake of Hurricane Matthew five years prior, 98% of them were safe to live in following the earthquake.
