Chief Advancement Officer, Woodland Park Zoo
David Wu directs Woodland Park Zoo’s Advancement program and leads programs ranging from marketing, communications, public affairs, membership and development. This is a newly formed division for the zoo and was created to accelerate the organization’s brand and resource efforts. With more than 30 years of experience in transforming organizational strategy and externally related programs, he has led successful multibillion-dollar fundraising campaigns.
Before joining Woodland Park Zoo for the second time, Wu was chief development officer for PATH, a global health organization focused on delivering innovative health solutions for those who need it most. Previously, he served at the University of Washington, UCLA and Seattle University in a variety of senior development roles, including UW’s acting vice president for advancement and alumni affairs. Wu is a member of the following Boards: Global Impact, Global Washington, Seattle Waterfront Committee, Alliance of American Museum’s and the Seattle Chamber of Commerce. In addition to these activities, he is affiliated with Grenzebech Glier and Associates, a global philanthropy management consulting firm.
Wu holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and a master’s degree in higher education administration from Bowling Green State University.
