Anita Whitehead joined KPMG in 2001 and is a principal for the firm’s Development and Exempt Organizations (DEO) practice. In her role as the commercial national sector leader, Whitehead works with companies to leverage corporate social investment as the platform for how they engage with investors, customers, employees and communities. She helps corporate funders understand how to reduce their exposure while making intelligent investments.
Whitehead also focuses on serving not-for-profit organizations, particularly private foundations and public charities, and advises on a range of tax and operational issues. Her work is global - including Africa, eastern Europe, Asia-Pacific, India and North America.
She serves as partner champion for corporate responsibility and the firm’s pride network, providing direction to the firm’s local strategies in the Washington, D.C., area.
Prior to joining KPMG, Whitehead was a financial analyst at the George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates in Washington D.C., and a financial analyst for Indiana University Medical Center, in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Whitehead is a Board member of the Association for Corporate Contributions Professionals and the Catalogue for Philanthropy. She earned a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Virginia Tech and a master’s in health administration from Indiana University.
She lives in Virginia with her husband, Jay, and daughter, Sara.
