Global Impact CEO Scott Jackson Receives 2016 EXCEL Award for Outstanding Leadership

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 13, 2016 – Scott Jackson, President and CEO of Global Impact, has been recognized by the Center for Nonprofit Advancement as a 2016 winner of the Gelman, Rosenberg and Freedman EXCEL Award. The award recognizes leadership achievement in the areas of innovation, motivation, community building, ethical integrity and strategic leadership.

Jackson is a major force in global philanthropy today, and is known for his visionary leadership and compassion. At Global Impact, he provides direction and oversight for all aspects of the organization, which has raised more than $1.7 billion since inception to help the world’s most vulnerable people. Previously, Jackson served as Vice President for External Relations at PATH and as Senior Vice President of World Vision US. He sits on boards and advisory councils of several nonprofits.

“It is an honor to be a winner of the EXCEL Award. It recognizes the commitment to both our staff and partners that I share with our Board of Directors and senior leadership to building a culture of inclusiveness at Global Impact,” said Jackson. “We will put the award funds to good use and ensure our staff benefits from the additional leadership training that will be available to us as a result of this award.”

The Center for Nonprofit Advancement, in partnership with Gelman, Rosenberg and Freedman, launched the EXCEL Award in 2005 to recognize and spotlight outstanding leadership of Washington metro area nonprofit organizations. “We are delighted to continue this important and rigorous competition in partnership with Gelman, Rosenberg and Freedman,” said Center CEO Glen O’Gilvie. “Our executives lead an incredible amount of people and relationships in the best interest of their organizations and our communities. Accomplishing excellence is both amazing and inspiring. Congratulations to our winners and honorable mentions.”

Finalists were selected through a three-step judging process including a comprehensive nomination form; in-person interview with the executive director; and a site visit attended by staff, board members, the executive director and representatives from the community served.

The award Selection Committee, made up of distinguished members of the business, philanthropic and nonprofit community, searched for examples of outstanding leadership that have moved beyond the recommended best practices to bring new levels of engagement that deliver results for the organization.
